Our Mission

Friends for Life is a 501(c)(3) charity that was founded in Waco, Texas, in September of 1989 to improve the quality of life for seniors and people with disabilities, particularly those who are without family to care for them.

Friends for Life helps the elderly and people with disabilities live independently as long as possible, protects and cares for those who are unable to care for themselves, and brings generations together to enrich lives.

Our Programs

Adult Day Care

The ADC is a safe and happy place for seniors and persons with disabilities to come each day to enjoy nutritious meals, snacks, and lots of fun activities provided by the trained RN and CNA staff.

Money Management

We serve as a representative payee and fiduciary for seniors and persons with disabilities who are at risk of losing independence due to the inability to manage financial matters.

Guardianship

We serve as a guardian for seniors and persons with disabilities whom the courts have determined are unable to perform basic life skills and have no family or friends willing or suitable to serve in this capacity.

Life Skills

The Life Skills Program provides one on one training with adults with Intellectual Disabilities living in nursing facilities with the goal of increased independence and transition into a community setting.

Independent Living

Volunteers help us ensure that the elderly and people with disabilities can live independently and safely in their homes as long as possible through services such as transportation to and from medical appointments, delivery of groceries, or small household repairs.

Quality of Life

Volunteers help us to minimize the isolation and loneliness of seniors and persons with disabilities in our community through our different programs that include Friends For Thanksgiving, Adopt -A- Grandparent, Gifts for Grannies and Grandpas Too and more.

The Tool Shed collects donations of used tools that we clean and repair to sell at 40-90% off retail price to help raise money for our work.
