Central Freight
When my son, Chuck, was working as a youth minister in Houston, he met a couple who donated gift items to his youth group so they could raise money for mission trips. He said, “they have more than we can use. I want to introduce you to them.” I was blessed to have the opportunity to meet an amazing couple (Jack & Andrea) who listened patiently while I told them all about Friends for Life – the story of how we started, what we were doing and our dream for our Intergenerational Center.
They offered to give us the rest of their gift items and told me we would need a truck. I asked how big of a truck and they told me it would need to be an 18-wheel truck. I called Pat Curry who ran Central Freight at that time and asked if he would send a truck to Houston to pick everything up for me. He said ‘yes’.
It ended up being 6 18-wheel truckloads we needed him to pick up for us! Miraculously, we were able to sell those gifts items to Tuesday Morning for almost a quarter of a million dollars. I loved it when Andrea told me that every time she saw a Central Freight truck she said, “thank you, Jesus!”
