Adult Day Center

Pay: $12.00 – $12.50 per hour
Job description:
Responsibilities: Provide personal care services, including:

  • dressing
  • feeding
  • toileting
  • vital signs
  • ambulation
  • exercises
  • Assist with recreational activities,
  • Encouraging clients to join activities,
  • Provide protective supervision,
  • Document care provided to each client and report all changes, both physical and mental, to the nurse, and
  • Embody the values of integrity, professional teamwork, and compassionate service every day.
  • Anything else that needs to be done
  • Work front desk, signing clients in and out
  • Help with cleaning

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • CNA license (Preferred)
  • CPR certification (training provided)
  • Clear TB screening
  • Driver’s license
  • Social Security card

Orientation and ongoing Training:

  • Initial fire, disaster and evacuation procedure within the first 3 days of employment
  • 18 hours of training during the first 3 months of employment
  • 12 hours of training each year

Dress: Scrubs, Name tag, & Closed-toe shoes

Money Management

Pay: $32,000 per year 

The Money Management Program at Friends for Life works as a team to provide representative payee services for seniors and adults with disabilities who are at risk of losing independence due to their inability to manage financial matters or their vulnerability to being exploited. Some of the people served by this program have a stable life with all their needs met for the first time in years. This is a very rewarding position for the right person.
 
This position will work with clients in an assigned caseload, including but not limited to preparing a budget based on each individual’s income and expenses, communicating with the client over the telephone, and hopefully saving a portion of monthly income for emergencies and/or enrichment activities. Training is provided on governmental benefits to ensure that clients receive any applicable. Actions are documented in an online software database system. Support Staff pay all the bills, reconcile accounts and maintain other client files at the program specialist’s direction.
 
The desire to help vulnerable people is a must for this position as well as people and telephone skills. Experience working with people with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
 
Applicant must pass all required background checks.
Independent Living/Quality of Life

Pay: $38,000 per year

Job Description:
The person in this position is responsible for coordinating and developing Independent Living and Quality of Life Programs in collaboration with the Co-Coordinator to ensure the seniors and people with disabilities in McLennan County live their best lives as independently as possible. Current programs include but are not limited to medical transportation, food delivery, minor home maintenance/repairs, friendly visitor, Phone Friends, Gifts for Grannies & Grandpas, too, and more. This position will match and coordinate volunteers, who are the backbone of these programs. Outreach to community, civic, and church groups will be encouraged.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • High School Diploma (required)
  • Experience in working with seniors and/or people with disabilities (preferred)

Guardianship

Pay: $32,000.00 – $36,000.00 per year
Job description:
Friends for Life is seeking a service-minded, committed, and professional team player to provide compassionate service to support the highest level, quality of life for elderly and persons with disabilities.
Requirements:
To be eligible for consideration the applicant must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age;
  • Be a high school graduate or possess the GED equivalent
  • Meet ONE of these additional qualifications: Have two years of relevant work experience related to guardianship.
  • Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree conferred by a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in a field related to guardianship.
  • Have completed a course curriculum or training specifically related to guardianship approved by the Texas Judicial Branch Certification Commission.

  • Arrange medical and mental health care, educational training, rehabilitative, and social services
  • Maintain regular monthly face-to-face contact with clients on assigned caseload
  • Document client-related activity in the caseload in the guardianship database system
  • Assist in the management of the financial affairs of clients as assigned

Additional Eligibility Criteria for Initial and Ongoing Employment:

  • Clear state and federal criminal background checks.
  • Pass a certification exam and obtain Texas Guardian Certification within two years.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
  • Have a reliable vehicle available to you at all times.
  • Be willing to travel for work within the service area at least 50% of work time.

Life Skills

Pay: $12.00 per hour

Job Description:
Life Skills Trainers provide one on one skills training for persons with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities living in nursing facility settings with the goal of increasing independence. Typical skills training includes activities that enhance socialization/ communication skills and cognitive skills; it is individually designed for each client served. No direct care responsibilities.

On the job training for the position will be provided. No certification required. No nights or weekends. Paid holidays and earned leave, even your birthday is a paid holiday. Monday through Friday but work schedule is flexible.

Successful Life Skills Trainers are creative and can work independently without direct supervision. You can really see the difference you make in the lives of the clients you assist.
