The Resume

I finished working about 3am one morning and I talked to God before I left to go home.  I told him I had all the admin stuff done and could do the fundraising part of my job, but I couldn’t think of anyone who would see me at that hour.  I told him I would do anything for Him but I wasn’t getting it all done.  Could He tell me what He wanted me to do.

Usually, when I worked that late, I didn’t clean off my desk, but for some reason I felt compelled to clean it off.  I found a resume I had never seen before.  It was for a friend named Norman.  He had been my son’s soccer coach and a dean at MCC, but his resume said he wanted a job in development.  I knew I was supposed to call him.  The next morning, I called Norman and asked him to come see me.  I explained that I needed someone who would help me with development and raise money for Friends for Life, but I didn’t have any money to pay him.  He would have to earn the money to pay his salary.  I asked him to pray about it.

He did and called to tell me He was sure God wanted him to come to work at Friends for Life.  I told him I was so glad I found his resume.  He said, “what resume?”  I said, “the one where you said you wanted a job in development.”  He was quiet for a long time and then said, “Where did you get it?  I haven’t given anyone in Texas that resume.”
