Friends for Life is honored and greatly humbled by the numerous organizations nationwide who have recognized our contribution to the care of seniors, frail elderly and people with disability. We are also appreciative of the role our founder, Inez Russell has played in not only the vision of our charity but in her tireless leadership of state committees that set the standards for our work and her influence in Austin and Washington DC.
Here are just a few of the ways Friends for Life has been recognized and honored:
The Stephen F. Austin Distinguished Service Award for Commitment to God, Country, and Fellowman by the Waco Scottish Rite Bodies. The award and a donation for $10,000 were presented to Inez Russell on November 6, 2017, at the Lee Lockwood Library. This award was also given to Caritas, Meals on Wheels, and Mission Waco. This year was the first time the award was presented to charities, rather than individuals.
Friends for Life has a Platinum transparency rating with Guidestar. This is the highest Seal of Transparency that Guidestar offers.
To become a BBB accredited charity, we had to meet all 20 of the BBB 20 Standards for Charity Accountability based on a review.
In the summer of 2015, Inez Russell was named a CNN Hero for her work at Friends for Life.
Friends for Life was selected as one of 16 Outstanding Charities Nationwide to be featured in a report published by the Hudson Institute, a Washington, D.C. based research firm.
Friend for Life was recognized three times by the Acton Institute of Michigan who named Friends for Life, one of the Most Compassionate and Effective Human Service Initiatives in the United States.
University of California at Berkeley named Friends for Life as Best Practice Model in Caregiving.
In New York, Fordham University named Friends for Life, one of the Nation’s Best Practice Models for Caring for the Elderly, in their Grotta Report.
