My Grandmother was in a nursing home for 16 years; my mother there for 12 years. Ms. Russell aptly captures the dear Ones who reside there, not by choice, but by chance! She very vividly describes the dear Ones who sit in the halls staring – just waiting for someone to pass by … for a smile, a handshake, an encouraging word, a gentle ‘touch’ that says, “I care that you have to be here. I wish I could do something to help!” Most of all, Ms. Russell depicts the reality that those smiles and touches and words of acknowledgement sadly … are few and far between. And, hopelessly, the poem reminds us that there is little help for real loneliness bottled up inside, behind eyes that no longer see, ears that no longer can hear, a mind that no longer is alert … there is simply just a hurting heart that CAN FEEL …. This is a beautiful poem about an ‘ugly’ stage in Life.

I have some dear friends,husband and wife, he has stage 4 cancer and she has COPD, some days she feels like piddling in her house, but most of the time she doesn’t. We are wondering, do you’ll have some volunteers that will come out and clean their house. I have been doing it but I am going to work part time and I am trying to find them some help with the cleaning of their house.

Oh my gosh! im so excited about this! My friend Andy was telling me so much about this amazing place! im absolutely thrilled if i could be able to volunteer! I need to start spending more time in environments that are positive and live and learn with new people! I hope i get this chance! i will hopefully have many doors opened and get a better idea of what i want to do in my future! Im so happy!

I was browsing you website and noticed that you were currently interviewing for several positions. I graduated from Baylor University and volunteered at Friends for Life. I was and still am truly amazed by the inspirational work being done. I am interested in the Development Professional position but I didn’t see any requirements listed.
