For over thirty years, Friends for Life has been recruiting, training, and organizing volunteers to help the elderly age in place with our Independent Living | Aging in Place program. Our goal is to provide services that will allow seniors to stay in their own homes for as long as possible.

Often this might be as simple as someone they can call on to change a light bulb, or escort them to a doctor’s appointment or grocery store. Other times this might include minor home repairs, yard work, or fixing a door. Our Independent Living | Aging in Place program allows for independence and peace of mind.  For many, it might mean a friendly voice on the phone calling to check up on them and listen to them talk. Many sweet friendships have evolved through our telephone reassurance center.

Often church, civic, and school groups volunteer time to help seniors with home repairs.

Independent Living | Aging in Place Volunteers help by doing the things that our clients are no longer able to do for themselves like:

  • Minor Household Repairs
  • Change Light bulbs
  • Run Errands
  • Grocery Shop
  • Accompany a Senior to the Doctor
  • Provide Telephone Reassurance
  • Provide Information, Referrals, and Assistance to Seniors who Need Other Help

independent-living-aging-in-place | FRIENDS FOR LIFEMany of our volunteers have been with us for years. They are individuals of all ages, school, church, and civic groups who plan yearly projects to help seniors do things they cannot do for themselves, or they are on call to help as needed.

We love our volunteers and know we could not provide the services we provide without them. Currently, we are seeking additional Independent Living | Aging in Place volunteers in many areas of Texas

If you would like to volunteer, we have a place for you. God Bless You!
